airless tire test

Recommended Posts

They are made by Michelin in South Carolina. They have been testing them for a few years now. IIRC they are the Fourtitude 4 to be released to the pubic in the near future.

my first concern would be how they'd hold up to highway speeds....looks like they'd be great for everything else....centrifugal force from high rpms (such as highway speeds) is enough to make a regular tire grow...I'd be afraid it'd rip those cells apart.

indeed....... you wld be surprised how cent-force makes a tire grow... look at a 75 mph 2 ply 4-wheeler tire. 24 inches grows to 31 inches at 75 mph

Those are interesting. I'd like to see how they handle highway speeds, too. Couldn't tell from the test, but I wonder how much road noise is created as speed increases.

There is high speed vids on utube. One is of the Audi going around the track.

:pu:

My truck makes more torque (831 ft/lbs) than the Audi's lug nuts require... :lmao2:
