CABELAS

Recommended Posts

Daniel and I went and picked up muddy today and went to town. We stoped at cabelas and boy was that a mistake. First of all you have to check your gun at the door if it has to come out for any reason. Well in this case we were looking for new grips for lees charter arms 38 so i had to check it. After you check a gun you cant touch it in the store. They call a guy up to get the gun and escort you and the gun to the gun counter. We get to the gun counter and i tell the guy i need to get a new set of grips that are better for a women shoter. the guy told me that they dont sell grips. Ha! We walked by a rack full of grips on the way to the gun counter i said. Then muddy said and the grips need to work with a speed loader. The guy at the gun counter said you wont find a speed loader for this gun. I said what? The guy said they dont make a speed loader for a 5 shot. As you no it went to HELL from there. I for 1 will not go back to cabelas.

On a good note we went to sportsman wherehouse and got what we needed with no prob.

Wow!! I don't have one of those and I knew what they told you was wrong. I would have to have some fun with 'salesmen' like that! Oh, I wonder how long it could go on!!! We will have to go back and make sure we get video of it!! I think it would be fun (Besides being a classic!). . . .

(Stuff like:

Can't I just use a regular speed loader then and just leave about 4 of the bullets out so it will only load 5?

Oh the fun that could be had!!!!!! Course I'm kind of mean that way when I run into a 'slower' species!!!! MMMWWHHAAAAhahahahahaha)

 lmao on the comment about just leaving one rnd out of a 'regular speedloader

yes, these were idiots. the over cautious part i can see. even sprtsmnwhrhse they wnt u to check in the weappon you are bringing in unholstered for fitting purposes. check in. confirm empty. a red strap on it, note in the book for a cya. tehn let ya go back to the firearm section to try out grips, holsters, etc etc.

worked ok at sprt wh.

cabelas ya check in and they take the weapon confirming it is empty. their policy is to call someone to escort ya and they pack your weapon WITH a big bulky trigger lock on. with this on how can ya try on grips or their use of a speeloader with these grips. how can ya even think of trying a custon fit retention holster????? how can you even check it for your satisfaction with someone else slipping it into and out of a holster to confirm the you, the user will be able to insert and remove easily enough or that it has proper retention. well if they wouldnt remove the trig lock the fit check aint happening anyway and if they did remove it and i cant check the way it feels, myself, i aint buying the holster.

to say they dont sell grips there, what in idiot. and the speedloader comment. crazy. i told him he is ignant as i have 5 5 shot speed loaders on me. hks model 36. went right over his dense head. a mininum wage worker who just wants to get you out of his hair. im sure there are enuff unemployed gun nuts who would work there and enjoy it so they wouldnt need to hire a dummy like that.

when curtis said just find someone to escort him out the guy wasted no time. he knew we were all pissed. and i was a bit vocal with him and at the from entry desk where the young man and a lady were apolagetic and stating what curtis posted above about their gun counter help are not gun experts, just salesmen. :wall:

i was vocal with those 2 also. and i have the #s of coporate office in sydney neb and the # for boise. do ya think i will not voice my opinion of this idiot and our expierience at cabelas. :stir

and fact is that in addition to not selling grips. not selling a bunch of speedloaders. and missing out on a selling 3 good holsters, they missed out on a high dollar item sale now and in the future, all that they lost to their competition at sportsmans's wharhse. i had planned on returning to get a nessesity at a near date, but not now. 3 customers now gone for good. and vocal customers too.

i will enjoy my phone conversations today with people in charge of this monkey at that zoo. :td::stir

Well guys I called Earl at Cabelas. We spoke for some time about what took place on saturday at Cabelas. Sounds as if things have been changed. We also talked about the site & diesel trucks for a time and it sounds like Earl will be staying on the site with us.

I would like to thank Earl for his response in this mater and also WELCOME him to the site

thanks to earl for his part in trying to remedy this fiasco that was caused by ignorance on the part of his staff. :tu:

in my speaking with earl yesterday i had a good feeling that earl would take some action and get to the bottom of this and make some changes. you cant keep a successful business if you have employees who run off your customers due to ignorance and putting forth a lack of effort.

knowing earl would be on this and educate staff in sales relationships i figured i would give cabelas another try, due to the fine treatment earl had exibited on the phone yesterday.

fast fwd to today at noon hour.[12.38]

i had purchased an uncle mikes kydex rh model 36 retention holster, paddle adaptable to belt holster the other day at sportsmans due to the fiasco at cabelas when we were unable to deal with that individual. this holster is just the ticket for what is needed and so i decided that i am going to get one just like it only LH.

i spoke with one of the gun counter people and tel him what i need. i tell him i need the kydex uncle mikes size 36 LH paddle adaptable to belt. this is adjustable retention. this 'individual' tells me no, you need an uncle mikes nylon. i say absolutly not. i dont want the flimsy nylon, i want the kydex. we argue back and forth and he says ok,,,, you want plastic. i say 'darn right'.

he then looks and says, yep, reight here is what ya need. i then repeat 'good. a LH correct?' he says no. they dont make these in a left hand. you need an uncle mikes nylon. these are the only left hand or ambidextrous holster available. cant get LH in a kydex.

BULL!!!!

i speak with curtis about this and he looks it up on the internet. BUD's has these available in a LH just like i want. kydex law enforcement uncle mikes. the twin to what i already have except for LH vs my RH.

i realize earl has his work cut out for him and it is not his fault that some unintellegent employees slip thru. but cabelas needs some house cleaning, training or something.

tell the staff that when an item is out of stock but available thru order that you will order it for them. dont tell them it is NOT available and try to sell them some pos item the customer does NOT want, just to make a sale and get them out of the store in a hurry. i still have not made my [censored] purchase and i will be particular who i deal with in getting that. if i dealt with the jokers i did today and saturday im sure he wouldve tried to sell my a hi-point

you have your work cut out for ya earl. i appreciate you dong what you do to make your shop run the way it should. :tu: your comments give me faith that that section of cabelas WILL change for the better.

on another note, welcome to IDAHO TURBO DIESELS. we look fwd to visiting with you at upcoming events and congrads on your decision to go straight...... straight six that is :tu:

you'll love that CUMMINS. :jump:

Well, hold on. Ya gotta give the guy a chance. Rome wasn't built in a day, and this sure as hell won't be fixed in one. From what both of you have said, this Earl is a pretty decent guy. Give him a chance. I for one have never had a problem with Cabela's and have no problem findin what I need in there, every time. Just my humble opinion.

on another note. i bought S&B 9mm in a case marked 1000 rnd.

we later counted and it was only 900 rnd. cabela did at least make it right after 100 miles round trip.

and,,,,,,,,,,,,,, they had some ammo i went to get on another trip that was advertised and i called in advance to confirm availability. they lied on the availability or didnt check good enough. there was only a bit that was NOT worth the drive in. then, at checkout, they sait it was 3 bucks a box more than it was supposed to be. managers got involved and i indeed did get it for the agreed upon ammount as well as a correct rain check for the remainder of what i needed. took me 200 miles + to get this done.

they need to fire 75% of their employees. :wall:
