quick spool turbo

Recommended Posts

so i am thinking i would like to get a quick spool housing, i plan on getting an intercooler, tymar intake, 3 inch downpipe and a chip. would a quick spool housing help me with boost or top it out at the high RPM's. and whats the max boost for a stock turbo versus quick spool housing. any ideas would be great thanks

The quick spool housing will help spool the turbo quicker, after a point high boost will kill a stock turbo..it takes out the thrust bearing. I can't remember the safe limit to run..maybe one of the Ford boys will chime in.

The quick spool housing will do nothing bet what it says, just make the charger spool quicker. The charger won't hold up to any more thrashing than it would if it was stock.

The bearings are what fails in a stock charger, over spinning it, can really eat up the bearings. Stock chargers are rated for around 25psi. Much more than that for long and it will eventually eat itself.

I put one on mine also.....I felt it was a huge PITA to do and it actually hurt my performance. I also didn't notice that it really spooled up any faster either.

thanks for educating me on the subject i dont think i will waste the money and the time.

Glad that you posted the question up before spending the money, it's nice to have input from people who have been that route before. The best mod I did for my OBS was injectors.
