What if the worst happens?? (NV5600)

thats all that is changed is the input?? how hard is that to change? is there anything else that should be changed/updated? The swap should be easy as far as everything from the 6speed bolting right up or plugging in right. I wouldnt want any suprises. I am going to need a new clutch soon and I think I will just do the swap then since the clutches arnt cheap

What if the worst happens?? (NV5600)

What is the ideally built 4500??? What upgrades will a guy need to allow it to handle power safely with out coming apart?

What if the worst happens?? (NV5600)

Wow!!! So the best bet is a 4500 it sounds. I dont really pull anything that heavy and if the final drives are the same it sounds like a good transition when and if the time comes. Why is it they still make parts for the 4500 and not the 5600?? How strong of a transmission is it as far as strength and handling hp and tq? Also dont they have a smaller input shaft and flywheel/clutch?

What if the worst happens?? (NV5600)

:wall: :wall: Well this is upsetting and aggrivating. So it's like the hemi of transmission in a way there are no parts

What if the worst happens?? (NV5600)

I guess I need to start buying stuff for down the road.......along ways!!! Maybe by then the market will have picked up!!
  8. I was told that no parts are available for the nv5600?? Is this true? I find this hard to believe that a transmission so widely used has no parts. So my question if the unthinkable happens what does a guy do?? Is this something I need to be looking for to set on the shelf or what? Are there some good builders out there that offer quality stuff not imported jap parts. Guess I am thinking ahead and looking for input.

    K&N Air Filter

DON'T DO IT!!!!! I just got back from my engine builder this morning and he showed me a 5.7 gasser that ran a K&N and I have never seen suck a lip on a cylinder wall!!! He said 60 thousands pry wont clean it up. talk about a worthless filter!!! They may claim to add power but your better off just running no filter and saving the money for the rebuild you will need. You won't find one on any of my vehicles! JUNK just my .02

    Oil bypass set ups?

I wish I had a welder so I could make a skid plate for my oil bypass and airdog! Unfortunetly I think I am going to have to do one of the following. Either bite the bullet and go buy a welder or torch with welding tip and cutting tip:hi5: which seems the most logical and diverse or come up with something else! I love the rattle can paint idea!!!!! Think I'm going to have to do that myself. Especially since I will be deploying in less than a month and I know my wife wont wash the road salt off each time. Hopefully that will keep the truck half way decient till I come back. Thanks guys I got some good ideas now. I just ordered a Frantz system so I'm excited. Think I will but it on the new tahoe motor when I get it in next week. Then maybe another one for my cummins. Again thanks!

    Oil bypass set ups?

Great post!! I am really leaning twards the Frantz brand. I am going to have to do some more looking at their systems to see what Im going to need. This maybe something I do when I get back from my deployment that I leave for in 4 wks but hopefully I'll at least get the Tahoe done since that is a critical time for the motor, with it breaking in!! Pictures would be great when you get a chance. Thanks for the help everyone.
